Mystics, Masters, Saints, and Sages by Robert Ullman and Judyth Reichenberg Ullman is a priceless book that introduces the reader to the writings of the greatest spiritual teachers within all the world’s religious traditions. From historical figures such as the Buddha and Rumi to contemporary spiritual teachers such as Eckhart Tolle and Gangaji, the reader is introduced to excerpts from their original writings, prefaced by a brief narrative of how they journeyed on their spiritual paths. This book introduced me to Eckhart Tolle, Rumi, St. John of the Cross and others, and prodded me to go deeper into their original writings. What struck me most powerfully was the realization that regardless of their historical context or religious tradition, all the mystics and contemplatives end up speaking the same language and reaching the same conclusions about life, death, God, humanity, suffering, and joy.
